Homo Viator is a reconstruction of 5 books which have, over the last 20 years, been subjected to rigorously artistic deconstruction by the Slovak visual artist Svätopluk Mikyta. Hundreds of over-drawings, after being taken out of books, exhibited, scattered into private and public collections, are now returned into the form of a book, as faithfully as possible (original size and position). Date of publishing: December 2016 For the past 19 years Svätopluk Mikyta has been foraging for books in the antiquity stores, bazaars and fl ea markets of Central Europe. He subsequently tears out the reproductions within them, smears paint over text, erases parts of the images and adds new visual information using a graphite pencil. |
